Over Band Magnetic Separator (Obms)

Self-Cleaning Separators are meant to be installed above conveyors when tramp iron contaminants are present and need to be removed for the protection of material processing machinery or to provide a cleaner product. A two-pulley design is used in the self-cleaning kind. Self-cleaning magnets are installed parallel to the material flow, while transverse self-cleaning magnets remove ferrous materials from the conveyor’s side. 

Permanent and Electro Magnet versions of the Self-Cleaning Magnet are available. The OverBand Electromagnetic Separator is made up of a stationary tri-polar design magnet unit with coils wound in aluminium wire or foil (copper is an option) depending on size, and insulated to Class 11′ (or higher) temperature specifications to receive DC power supply. Magnets can be air-cooled or oil-cooled, depending on the purpose. Oil-cooled magnets have expansion tanks to keep the coil immersed in oil at all times. 

A two-pulley design is used in the OBMS self-cleaning type. Crossbelt self-cleaning magnets remove ferrous contaminants over the side of the conveyor, whereas self-cleaning magnets are positioned in parallel with the material flow.
